THERE IS A WAY

Plymouth Psych Group (PPG) is a mental health clinic that believes in a holistic attitude towards the treatment of mental illness. Our general approach to mental health treatment is to help people establish their goals, attain them and feel better in the process. Our mission is to provide excellent and compassionate mental health care.

PPG has a consortium of skilled and competent clinicians who are committed to the overall well-being of the individual and their families. We engage in ongoing collaboration with other clinics, school districts and colleges including the University of Minnesota. PPG is poised to be a preferred mental health provider in the Twin Cities.

Our services include providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and individual, family, couples and group therapy. In addition, PPG offers comprehensive psychological evaluations for diagnostic clarifications of multiple disorders.

Call us at 763-559-1640 to schedule an intake for any of our services.

Psychiatric Evaluations

Psychiatric Evaluation/ assessments is a process of information gathering about a person within a mental health service, with the purpose of making a diagnosis for appropriate management of symptoms. The assessment is usually the first stage of a treatment process. The standard psychiatric history consists of biographical data (name, age, marital and family contact details, occupation, and first language), the presenting complaint (an account of the onset, nature and development of the individual’s current difficulties) and personal history (including birth complications, childhood development, parental care in childhood, educational and employment history, relationship and marital history, and criminal background).

Medication Management

We care well beyond the moment.
A mental illness is a medical condition that disrupts a person’s thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning. The goal of treatment is to improve a patient’s comfort and quality of life, and to do so with compassion and precision. We want to help you feel better and keep you feeling better. Prescribed medications play a key role in the treatment of co-occurring disorders. They can reduce symptoms and prevent relapses of a psychiatric disorder.

For a medication evaluation, schedule an appointment.

Individual Psychotherapy

Even the strongest among us can feel lost, uncertain, misplaced, or unhappy at times. Plymouth Psych Group provides outpatient mental health including assessment, therapy, and psychiatric medication management for adults, adolescents, and children in individual, couple, family, and group formats. Our goal is to provide high-quality care, working collaboratively with each client.

Couples Counseling (relational conflicts, sex therapy, co-parenting etc.)

Are you looking for help with relational conflicts, sex therapy, co-parenting, etc.?

As a couple we create a container which holds all our hopes, fears and desires. When a relationship works, it leads to an immensely fulfilling life. However, as many of us find out, it is not always like that. We may realize that the friendship is not what we expected. Our chosen partner is not quite the person we imagined them to be. The container of our couple starts to feel less secure.

We offer couples/family therapy and specialize in the following areas:

  • Frequent couples arguments and conflicts
  • Marriage and relationship crisis
  • Trouble with communication
  • Infidelity
  • Emotional distance in relationships
  • Pre-marital counseling
  • Parenting conflicts and issues

Our therapists have in-depth training, skill and experience to help couples repair negative interactions and develop a renewed sense of love, affection, and support for one another.

Family Therapy – Nurtured Heart Approach

The Nurtured Heart Approach is more than behavior management techniques. It is a way of being and perceiving your child that will create healthy relationships.

The Nurtured Heart Approach “emphasizes energizing crucial traits for a whole person within the structure of clear and consistent boundaries, with the goal of creating a wonderful new level of inner wealth that will inspire the child to make positive choices rather than negative ones. The Nurtured Heart Approach provides just the right amount of balance between being positive with the child and setting limits with the child. Strong positives are used in conjunction with excellent limit setting, along with a refusal to accidentally reward negativity”.

During this 4-week parent group, we will use the parent workbook as you begin to implement the techniques. There will be education, interactive discussions, and celebration of your successes. Please sign up that you will commit the upcoming session.
