Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Teunis is a doctorally prepared psychiatric nurse practitioner who provides psychiatric diagnostic evaluation and on-going psychiatric care for patients of all ages. Psychiatric care may include diagnostics, consultation, pharmacogenomic testing, medication and supplement recommendations and monitoring, lab monitoring, education on diagnosis and treatment options, and supportive therapy. At each visit, she offers a holistic approach that addresses each patient’s unique needs and works alongside each patient to develop shared treatment goals. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as running, traveling, and all things outdoors.

Dr. Teunis earned her Psychiatric/Mental Health Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Minnesota in 2017. She also obtained a graduate certificate in Integrative Health and Healing Practices through the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality and Healing. Her clinical practice has been in an integrated care setting where she has worked alongside a primary care team to provide medical care for the mind and body. She has served as a consultant and educator to primary care providers to improve accessibility to mental health services. Her doctoral training was focused on providing care in community mental health outpatient clinics, integrative health clinics, and at a large academic medical center. Prior to completing her doctorate, she worked as a RN for 7 years in both mental health and oncology specialties. She has also served as a group therapist that aims to improve the quality of life for those who are living with or have survived a cancer diagnosis.
