Mental Health Paraprofessional

Plymouth Psych Group is seeking a part-time Mental Health Paraprofessional to work within our Social and Emotional Development Intensive Outpatient Program.

Job Description:
The Intensive Outpatient Program at Plymouth Psych Group is for socially motivated teens ages 12-18 years, who have a medical diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or related disorder that impacts social skills. The program teaches social skills and emotional regulation to improve the teenagers’ overall functioning. In this program, the Mental Health Paraprofessional would be working closely with the teens as well as assisting the therapists with various duties.

Position Overview:
The Mental Health Paraprofessional provides vital and significant support to the multidisciplinary treatment team and clients served in the Intensive Outpatient Program. The primary responsibility of the Mental Health Paraprofessional is to support the treatment team staff (under the guidance of the mental health professional and mental health practitioner) to implement individual day treatment plans, as well as communicate daily with parents. On-the-job training is provided.

Responsibilities:
Provide interventions and support that enhance program participants’ success. Support functional development skills.

Coordinate the organization and maintenance of the treatment room environment.

Maintain appropriate records and reports to support successful treatment for program participants.

Qualifications:
Interested individuals must be patient, dedicated, reliable, mature and committed team-players with a strong desire to change the lives of individuals living with Autism. Must be teachable and have ability to work under stress. Previous work experience with children and adolescents is highly desired, or experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities. Attention to detail and good communication skills are essential. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb a flight of stairs, as well as bend, squat and get up and down from off the floor, all with ease.

Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
